FROM DINER COUNTERS TO THE OVAL: THE HEARTLAND NEVER STOPPED BELIEVING

They called it flyover because they flew over it. That was the tell. A class that only saw the country as a window seat decided the window was the problem. The towns under the wing kept the diners open anyway, kept the churches painted, kept a flag on the pole even when the commercial told them it was complicated.
