PARENTS FIRST: TRUMP POURS AN EXTRA SHOT OF EDUCATIONAL FREEDOM
School choice is not a theory in a faculty lounge. It is a parent with a car key and a better option.

The White House rolled out another round of educational freedom this week, and the teachers unions reached for the fainting couch like it was 2019. President Trump is putting students and parents first. That sentence should not be controversial. In the current year, it is a felony of manners.
School choice is the extra shot this country has needed for decades. If the building down the street cannot teach a child to read, the parent should not need a permission slip from a downtown bureaucracy to drive somewhere that can. Money follows the kid. The kid does not follow the zip code.
The other side will say this starves public schools. Public schools have been drinking from a firehose of money while scores went sideways and the curriculum wandered into every cause except multiplication. Starvation would imply they were hungry. They are not hungry. They are particular.
Oval Roast will keep saying it until it is boring: a parent is the smallest school board that actually loves the student. The President is backing that board. If that ruins a conference in a hotel ballroom, they can expense a latte and think it over.
