THEY PULLED THE COMMS SHOP'S KEYS. THE AGENCY SAYS MISCONDUCT. THE BUILDING HEARS LEAKS.

Three people from the Secret Service communications office, including comms chief Anthony Guglielmi, were put on leave this week. Their clearances went with them. So did their work phones. Susan Crabtree at RealClearPolitics broke it first: sources said they were walked out Monday, made "do not admits," as part of a criminal leak hunt. The agency would only confirm the headcount.

The official line, given to the New York Post, is "potential misconduct," investigated by the Office of Professional Responsibility, no further comment. That is the language you use when the building still has a secret. Crabtree's sources, and the Post citing RCP, say the FBI and CIA are in on this one. The agency has not said that. It also has not said the word leak. It does not have to. This summer an agent on Vice President Vance's detail was pulled over a suspected travel leak, and the White House has been steaming over how the Turkey plane-swap hit the papers.

Guglielmi's lawyer, Gregg Bernstein, told the Post his client has integrity, respects the mission, and is cooperating. Fine. Cooperation is not the story. The story is that the shop that talks to the cameras just got its keys taken, after the shop that protects the President kept showing up in the papers.

Spill the Beans, then: when the spokespeople get walked, it is because someone already talked. Drink that.
