TRUMP LOCKS DOWN AMERICA'S POWER GRID — AND THE LEFT IS ALREADY WHINING

The President declared a national emergency to keep foreign junk out of the bulk-power system. Folks, this is how you pour a strong cup.

Pour yourself a cup and sit down, because President Donald J. Trump just did what a serious country does when foreign hardware is sitting on the electric grid: he declared a national emergency and told the bargain-bin suppliers to take a hike.

On August 26, the President signed an order under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to prohibit or condition the purchase and installation of foreign-produced bulk-power equipment — the transformers, the software, the digital guts that keep the lights on from Toledo to Tulsa. The White House says foreign actors have been building and exploiting vulnerabilities in the system that underwrites national defense, emergency services, and the economy. If that sounds like a plot from a late-night movie, congratulations, you have been paying attention.

The order does not mess with your neighborhood pole. Local distribution is carved out. What it does is give the Secretary of Energy the authority to put conditions on risky foreign gear, write the rules, and stop treating the American grid like a clearance aisle. The country has been leaning on foreign components while we try to run advanced manufacturing, AI, and defense production off the same wires. That is not a supply chain. That is a bet.

This builds on a year of the President treating electricity like a national security file instead of a seminar topic: grid orders in 2025, AI for cybersecurity in June, defense supply chains in July, and a proclamation this month on drone imports. You can almost hear the cable panels from here. They will call it scary. They will call it isolationist. They will not mention that California has been giving tutorials in rolling blackouts for years.

Hot Covfefe's take is simple. A republic that cannot keep the lights on is not a superpower. It is a diner with the warmer unplugged. The President just plugged it back in. If that ruins someone's talking points, they can order decaf.
